Unlike conventional robotic platforms, the modular system features flexible robotic arm placement, allowing surgeons to configure the equipment according to individual procedures and operating room requirements. The platform is also easier to install and relocate, improving operational efficiency while supporting a broad spectrum of surgical specialties. Dr. Adisak Ngamkhajornwiwat, Director of Lerdsin Hospital, said LiROS will play an important role in supporting the Ministry of Public Health's policy of strengthening advanced medicine and medical innovation. He added that the Department of Medical Services intends to use the institute to transfer knowledge and enhance the capabilities of healthcare personnel throughout its nationwide hospital network while improving patient access to high-quality medical services.
Since introducing the modular robotic-assisted surgery program in May 2026, Lerdsin Hospital has successfully completed 30 robotic-assisted procedures within just two months, according to data recorded as of July 21, 2026. The operations have included general surgery, colorectal surgery, urological procedures, prostate cancer surgery, gender reassignment surgery, and other complex interventions. These early clinical results demonstrate the versatility of the technology across multiple specialties while highlighting its ability to support highly precise surgical techniques and facilitate faster patient recovery.
