Senior officials attending the ceremony included Department of Disease Control Director General Dr. Montien Kanasawasdi, Department of Tourism Director General Mr. Chaturon Pakdivanich, Department of National Parks Wildlife and Plant Conservation Director General Mr. Atthapol Charoenchanasa, and Thai Hotel Association President Mr. Thienprasit Chaiyaphatranan.
Building Stronger Defenses Against Health Threats
The agreement is designed to integrate the expertise and resources of public health authorities with tourism operators to create environments that are safer for visitors while ensuring health risks are effectively monitored and managed.
Dr. Direk Khamphaen, Deputy Director General of the Department of Disease Control, explained that the partnership represents a significant milestone in protecting the health of both Thai citizens and international visitors. He emphasized that the department will provide specialized expertise in travel medicine together with internationally recognized disease prevention and control standards to strengthen collaboration between healthcare authorities and tourism stakeholders.
According to Dr. Direk, the initiative aims to ensure tourist destinations adopt standardized health management practices while improving the preparedness of hotels, attractions, and tourism operators to respond effectively to communicable diseases and other health hazards.
