UK Claims It Detected Two Cases Of Omicron Or B.1.1.529 Variant Despite Lingering Concerns About The Virus True Origins!
The United Kingdom in the last few hours Britain confirmed its first two cases of the new Omicron strain of COVID-19, both linked to travel from southern Africa, and expanded travel restrictions on the region.
A British government statement said, "After overnight genome sequencing, the UK Health Security Agency has confirmed that two cases of COVID-19 with mutations consistent with B.1.1.529 (Omicron) have been identified in the UK. The two cases are linked and there is a link to travel to southern Africa.”
It was reported that one case was detected in the central English city of Nottingham, and the other in Chelmsford east of London.
The British Health Secretary who is a Muslim, Sajid Javid said, "We have moved rapidly and the individuals are self-isolating while contact tracing is ongoing.”
Sajid Javid who is of Pakistani descent, added that the government was placing another four African countries on its travel "red list"—Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola, effective from 4:00 am (0400 GMT) on Sunday.
The United Kingdom has already said it is banning travel from six southern African nations because of the emergence of Omicron: South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Botswana.
The British government was widely criticized for its travel and quarantine policy earlier in the pandemic, when it kept borders open to foreign travelers even as infection rates spiraled.
Javid added, "This is a stark reminder that we are not yet out of this pandemic," Javid said, urging the public to get follow-up booster jabs of vaccines. We will not hesitate to take further action if required."
Meanwhile there is growing doubts about the origin of the Omicron or B.1.1.529 variant after Botswana government released a public statement about the issue.
Investigations are underway and the variant might not have originated from Africa after all.
There is now growing concerns about a new conspiracy and coverups about the virus research and origins of the new Omicron variant.
There is also a very high possibility that needs to be verified that the Omicron variant might have originated in highly vaccinated United Kingdom after all. https://www.thailandmedical.news/news/this-is-getting-hilarious-did-the-omicron-or-b-1-1-529-variant-originate-from-uk-and-not-the-african-continent
