COVID-19 Research: The research community has been abuzz with a new conspiracy theories the last 24 hours after Indian researchers from the MACS Agharkar Research Institute in Pune published a new research paper online questioning the origins of samples used for the genomic sequencings of the BAT RaTG13 coronavirus which has since been submitted to various international databases for comparisons and studies.

The BAT Coronavirus RaTGI3 has supposedly been claimed as the closest coronavirus to the SARS-CoV-2 and is supposedly its predecessor.
For the last few months genomic researchers have looking for answers about the origins of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and the submitted genome sequencings submitted by the Chinese form the Wuhan Institute of Virology have been used as a basis of comparison and as a reference by researchers around the world

The Chinese had claimed that the specimens submitted for sequencings were fecal swabs taken from the horseshoe bats. (Rhinolophus affinis).
However the Indian researchers are claiming that the specimens submitted might be faked or from other sources.
According to claims made by the Indian researchers in the published findings, the fecal swab sample shows abnormally high reads from eukaryotes which includes not only bats but other animals, as per the NCBI site.
Furthermore comparison of the fecal swab to other bat fecal swabs deposited by the same group on the same date indicates that the fecal swab from which RaTG13 sequence was derived looked abnormal.
The proportion of bacteria in this RNA Seq project was only 0.7% in contrast to 70-90% abundance in other fecal swabs from bats. Also, the amplicon sequencing done on the same sample showed large number of gaps and inconsistencies. This poses a question on the authenticity of the RaTG13 sequence also according to the Indian Researchers.
If the allegations of the Indian researchers are true, it would have massive implications about the origin of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and also about what is China and the Wuhan Virology Institute is really hiding and why the deception and reasons for misleading the international research community.
To date it has been emerging that from day one of the outbreak in Wuhan that China has been constantly feeding misinformation and faked studies and data about the COVID-19 disease and the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus to the rest of the world including about drug trials and results, the progression of the disease and even about Traditional Chinese Medicine and various aspects of the disease while it seems to have not suffered a major impact as compared to the rest of the whole where its Chinese citizen vectors and the WHO had helped spread the SARS-CoV02 coronavirus by not doing anything to control it spread.
The implications might not just resonate to Chinese sincerity and track record of being malicious and deceptive but might also track back to Dr Anthony Fauci who in his capacity in the NIH had funded the Chinese research lab on coronavirus studie
s for years and who entities are in control of all genomic databases of the various coronavirus strains for studies.
We at Thailand Medical News when was initially presented with the research was skeptical as we thought that it could just be petty allegations against the Chinese due the ongoing border conflict both countries are having with each other.. But upon cross-checking with other genomic researchers in Sweden and United States, there seems to be some truth to the allegations.
