The World Health Organization warned a few days ago that the number of new COVID-19 infections rose by 18% last weeks with more than 4.1 million cases reported officially.

Unofficially, the actual figures could be as high as 5 to 6-fold as many countries have deliberately become laxed and have either cut down testing or are simply trying to find ways to conceal the real scenario or are simply letting things to go ignored as they are more concerned with economic issues.
The new SARS-COV-2 BA.4 and BA.5 variants and their emerging sub-variants are leading the new surges and are quickly displacing the various BA.1 and BA.2 variants.
It is projected that in the next 8 weeks, the number of infections, hospitalizations and death rates are going to rise exponentially worldwide.
On an optimistic perspective, at least another 650,000 people are expected to die from now till the end of August 2022!

The surge is occurring literally in most countries around the world despite many ignorant people still oblivious of what is happening around them and are under the impression that either the crisis of over or that the BA.4 and BA. 5 variants are simply mild too.
The start of the new surge is occurring in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand with most of the middle-East countries more badly hit.
Many stupid experts are basing observations of what is occurring in South Africa where the BA.4 and BA.5 variants originated and the effects of these variants is the ongoing surge there. They still did not learn from the earlier Omicron BA.1 and BA.2 surge where it was considered mild in South Africa as initial observations there showed so. It should be noted that the degree of research as well as medical care in South Africa is basically primitive and backwards!
Hence, we have misleading studies such as this one saying that the BA.4 and BA.5 impact in South Africa is just as comparable to the BA.1 surge.

One has to take into consideration the fact that the genetic makeup in a particular location where the variants originated are different from other populations in other countries or geolocations and that such variations in genetic makeups in various geolocations has a role to play too in disease severity!

ne evasive and also has a different pathogenic mode with an enhanced tropism towards the lungs and also better at disarming parts of the immune system and is more resistant o most of the known antivirals.

Even if hospitalization rates and mortality rates for this BA.5 surge does not end up as being the worse that we have seen in the last 30 months, we can be at least guaranteed that more people will get infected with this variant this time round as its more transmissible and is able to evade both natural immunity and vaccine-induced immunity, hence even the unvaccinated or vaccinated who have to date never got infected, will most likely be found by this variant and also all those who had been infected before, will continue to get re-infected.
This brings us to the good news, that even if those infected do not die now from the BA.5 infection, Thailand
Medical News predicts that they will ultimately die within a time span of between 5 to 8 years unless they continue to get re-infected, in which case their lifespan will be even shorter.
